Silicone tamponade in transnasal approach applied to the repair of orbital wall fracture

Recently, the First Affiliated Hospital of Shanxi Medical University, Department of Otolaryngology, researchers published thesis, aims to explore the silicone tubetamponade in transnasal approach repair of orbital wall fracture operation inapplication. Research indicates that, two kinds of stuffing packing chamber operationeffect is good, but compared with the traditional method of the packing iodoform sand,silica gel tube tamponade curative effect, convenience, light, moderate foreign body reaction were not small, can be used in clinical treatment. The paper published in the2014 second "China Journal of Otolaryngology Head and neck surgery".

A retrospective analysis of 11 cases diagnosed as simple medial orbital wall fractureand transnasal approach for the healing of the fracture cases, 6 cases with silica gelfor nasal packing, 5 cases with iodoform gauze as nasal packing material, and observe the effect of patients with operation comfort.

Restriction of eye movement, diplopia symptom operation effective rate was 100%;review of orbital CT showed 10 cases of orbital contents recovered good, 1 casesrecovered without obvious operation, effective rate was 90.9%; 10 patients with eyenormal, 1 cases of eye position than the healthy side in 2.3 mm, without diplopia, notspecial processing. Iodoform gauze comfort average score A=8.2, B=3.0 averagescore for comfort silicone tube, A>B.
